We committed to keeping full 2025 Chicken Hatch Statistics—and you’ll find the running tally below. We’ll update this page after each hatch so you can follow along.
We began hatching during our first year with modest numbers. But in February 2025, we scored a great deal on a Brinsea Ovation 56 EX incubator at Chewy, and that changed everything. Now, in addition to selling eggs for consumption, we’re also breeding chickens and selling chicks. Needless to say, the incubator hasn’t had a break since!

Additional Hatching Statistics
We provide these additional details about our 2025 Chicken Hatch Statistics to provide additional details. The numbers are the numbers, but there is a story behind them. Hopefully these details provide additional insight.
Hatch Date 02/23/2025 – This hatch was done in our foam bottom incubator. I’m not sure of the brand as it is not currently on the property (loaned out). This started in February which was very cold for two days. This incubator did not insulate well.
Hatch Date 03/20/2025 – A wind storm caused an extended power outage between days 5-7 which caused swings in temp/humidity. We had to run the incubator off of the vehicle power outlet until we could get a generator onsite.
Hatch Date 04/13/2025 – We purchased eggs from a local breeder. About half of the unhatched eggs were theirs. I should note that I did NOT use the Brinsea humidity pads, but wadded up paper towels instead.
Hatch Date 05/07/2025 – We had a power loss of about 18 hours on day 9. Unfortunately, the vehicle I previously used to run the incubator in power outages had been sold and the generator was in use by its owner. Milder weather helped keep temp / humidity in check. Great Hatch!
Hatch Date 05/28/2025 – This one started off fun. We purchased 11 eggs from a local breeder. Two of those were dropped while setting up the incubator… The remaining 13 eggs were Barred Rock. 7 of the Barred Rock Eggs were removed at day 10 due to no development. All remaining eggs cleared into day 18- lock down. Hatch of the purchased eggs we had 100% hatch. Of our Barred rock eggs, only one remained unhatched.
